How To Care For Wool Covers

We recommend washing and lanolizing your wool covers prior to use.  Wool is a wonderful fabric, and only needs to be washed about once every 2-3 weeks, or when it gets soiled or holds odors when dry.  Between uses, simply air dry if it becomes damp.  On wash day, fill a basin (I use my bathroom sink) with tepid water and add about a teaspoon full of Eucalan Wool Wash per garment.

Allow the wool cover to soak for about 15 minutes, then drain the water out of your sink with the cover still resting at the bottom so the lanolin will be deposited on the wool.  Squeeze the cover gently (do not ring!), then simply lay your wool cover on top of a dry towel, and roll up, gently squeezing as you go to get as much moisture out as possible.  Lay your wool cover flat to dry, never hang dry as the weight of the wool may cause it to stretch.

To occasionally lanolize your wool cover, simply add 1/4 tsp of lanolin (such as Lansinoh) to a container full of hot water and shake the container so the lanolin melts.  Add this mixture to your sink of tepid water and Eucalan Wool Wash, and follow the same instructions as above.
