The amount of diapers you will require will depend on the age of your child and how often you will be laundering your diapers. I recommend washing every two days, but having enough diapers on hand for three. I don't recommend going any longer than three days between washings.
Start Up Necessities:
- Diaper Pail (you can use any kitchen garbage can found at your local hardware store)
- 2 Pail Liners (one to use while the other is being laundered)
- 1 Wet Bag for your diaper bag (you may need more depending on how often you are out of the house)
- At least 2 dozen wipes
- Wipe solution
- Mini-shower (this is not a necessity but it definitely makes cleaning up messy diapers easier!)
- Minimum of 2 dozen diapers, more if you have a newborn
- 3-6 covers, if applicable
- If you are using pocket diapers, you will need an insert for each one. It's a good idea to have a few extras on hand for times when you know you will be going between diaper changes, such as naptime or bedtimes
- 2 Snappi Diaper Fasteners, if applicable
- 6 or more fleece liners (even if you don't plan on using liners in your diapers, it's a good idea to have these on hand in case your child develops a rash and you need to use diaper creams)
For parents new to cloth I recommend purchasing one of each type of cloth diaper before making a large purchase to see what works best for your child/family. If you need help in making your first cloth purchase, please feel free to contact me and I can ask you a few simple questions to help you decide what type of diapers may be best for your family.
